‘Doing little things well is a step toward doing big things better’. - Vincent Van Gogh
Although it is more starkly apparent in our current instantaneous world, there has always existed a human tendency to want to get things done as soon as possible. For some, this is due to some inner-urgency or insecurity. For others, it stems from a downright lack of patience. Whatever the case, learning to do things step-by-step is an invaluable life lesson that can expand our skill set and ability to function in certain environments. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Whilst it may be possible to generate a social media post instantly, switch on a TV show straight away, and even order food in a jiffy, there comes a point in life where you learn that some things are much better done in small little steps that take time in building to the bigger picture. If your mind is not prepared for such a process as it is hardwired to our microwave culture, you may find yourself limited.

Examples include DIY projects, which require patience, time and reflection space. Another includes learning a new language, which you need to practice seriously and intermittently. Amidst all of these, the most important is the building of relationships. Amongst our friends, families and children, we can often seek to gain or manipulate the situations we desire as fast as possible, so that we can appease our emotional needs. Such a full-frontal approach can lead to hurt and separation. Relationships requiring learning on a step-by-step basis, which we can then apply to different circumstances.
So then, part of how2behuman is growing in step-by-step processes, rather than always striving for things to be done straight away. In realising this, we enable ourselves to develop a wider skillset which serves us in different areas, aiding our development and consideration of those nearest and dearest.
